What happens when we inspect
First, we check the loft hatch and structural timbers for rot. We measure the roof space and check the consumer unit and existing cable runs. All the time we look for signs of collapse, leaks or sagging. We open the skirting to check the soil stack for cracks or obstructions.
What you should do now
- 1 Send an email with the loft hatch measurement, length and width of the property
- 2 Provide access to the consumer unit and soil stack in the loft
- 3 Clear any obstructions from the roof space to the chimney breast
- 4 Confirm if existing loft insulation will be removed or kept in place
- 5 Tidy the roof space so we can survey the structural timbers, joists and eaves
Watch out for
- ✓ Check your loft for any cracks in the masonry
- ✓ Look for water stains on the rafters or timbers
- ✓ Ensure your soil stack is clean and unblocked
- ✓ Check the loft hatch skirting for rot or damage
- ✓ Listen for hissing or tapping noises from the boiler.
