Bungalow Loft Conversion Nationwide

Leaving the loft empty another day means wasted space and higher bills. We’ll walk you through the whole bungalow loft conversion process, from design to finish, and give you a clear price before any work begins. In the meantime, keep the loft hatch clear and note any damp or cracks you spot.

What We Do on Arrival

On arrival we set up ladders at the loft hatch, check the consumer unit for a spare circuit, and lay protective boards over the skirting and floor joists. We then strip the existing roof felt, expose the rafters and ridge board, and fit new joists to carry the dormer or Velux frame. After fixing the structural steel, we install insulation, vapour barrier and plasterboard, ready for finish.

Prepare Your Loft Before We Arrive

  1. 1 Clear the loft hatch and surrounding floor space so our team can set up ladders and equipment without obstruction.
  2. 2 Remove any stored items, boxes or furniture from the loft area to give us a clear work zone from the start.
  3. 3 Check for signs of damp, mould or cracks on the loft walls and ceiling, and note their location for our inspection.
  4. 4 Ensure the loft hatch is operable and not painted shut, and keep a clear path from the house door to the hatch.

Watch out for

  • ✓ Damp patches on the rafters signal a leaking roof
  • ✓ Cracked plasterboard hints at movement in the joists
  • ✓ Blocked soffit vents cause condensation and mould growth
  • ✓ Loose or missing tiles around the kerb let water in
  • ✓ Overloaded consumer unit trips when new lighting is added
